Account Executive

The R+A Account Executive contributes to successful account and company performance by managing media research and relations; acting as a client liaison; and assisting in overseeing event planning, social media strategy, and related client projects with significant client-facing responsibilities. 

In addition, the Account Executive actively provides input with regard to corporate strategy, assists with the training and oversight of new junior account staff members, and ensures that client services are rendered in a meticulous and timely manner. Account Executives make important contributions to the future success of the firm and R+A encourages their ongoing growth.

 

Responsibilities Include: 
  • Generating external client materials to support communications activities and media relations, including press releases, institutional backgrounders, project descriptions, and other editorial collateral
  • Coordinating strategic communications campaigns with clients and the R+A team—including media relations, information management, client briefings, and other activities—that advance clients’ institutional goals
  • Facilitating mutually productive interactions between clients and opinion-leading journalists through press briefings, media roundtables, site visits, desk-side meetings, and other face-to-face cultivation opportunities
  • Event management, including but not limited to venue selection, invitation development and distribution, and programming logistics
  • Tracking client coverage and related campaign outcomes, and transmitting these outcomes to the client through real¬-time reporting and comprehensive campaign summaries
  • Contributing to the development of overarching account strategy, and identification of campaign goals; generating strategic proposals and implementation timelines 
  • Developing strategies for the use of social media and digital platforms to meet client goals
  • Participating in new business cultivation efforts and new business opportunities, including attendance at leadership meetings, institutional research, and proposal development 
  • Maintaining a strong awareness of the latest news and emerging trends in the field of arts and culture and actively participating in the world of arts and culture
  • Cultivating strong relationships with national media contacts and leveraging these relationships for the benefit of client visibility
  • Implementing R+A’s strategic planning initiatives in concert with relevant strategic planning committees; supporting R+A in the use of new tools and the development of new ideas
  • Evaluating those team members that they supervise, providing feedback about their performance on an ongoing basis and readiness for promotion at annual reviews

 

Qualifications Include: 
  • 1-3 years of experience in communications, ideally in the visual and performing arts realm
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and familiarity with Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience with database management (particularly Cision) is a plus
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, and handle change at a moment’s notice
  • Outstanding phone skills, highly professional verbal communication
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Experience managing other staff is preferable
  • Must be receptive to feedback and able to take direction
  • Ability to work collaboratively and coordinate within a team
  • Demonstrated passion and interest in the arts and culture
