Artist Nicolas Party and Medical Apparel Pioneer Heather Hasson To be Honored at RxART’s annual PARTY on October 16

RxART will honor artist Nicolas Party and medical apparel pioneer Heather Hasson at its annual fundraising gala on October 16. Held at 432 Park Avenue, the RxART PARTY celebrates the nonprofit’s visionary collaborators and partners as it supports RxART’s mission of bringing the healing power of visual art to hospitalized children and their caretakers. Since its founding in 2000, RxART has commissioned more than 50 site-specific projects—from murals and wallpaper designs, to privacy curtains and CT scan wraps—in hospitals across the country, introducing beauty and comfort into once sterile and intimidating environments.

The gala will include a cocktail reception and dinner animated by an installation of sculptures by Nicolas Party. Stéphane Aquin, Chief Curator of the Hirshhorn Museum, will present Nicolas Party with the RxART Inspiration Award, in recognition of the artist’s creative practice and his forthcoming RxART commission that will transform a stark and empty 207-foot-corridor, which leads to the Operating Department at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), into a space of inspiration and hope for the over 16,000 children served there each year. Heather Hasson, Co-Founder & Co-CEO of FIGS, will be presented with the RxART Innovation Award by FIGS co-founder Trina Spear in celebration of the trailblazing company’s forthcoming collaboration with artist Urs Fischer that will produce playfully patterned pajamas for CHLA’s young patients. These hospital-grade garments, made of antimicrobial, liquid repellent fabric, with plastic snaps safe for MRI machines and X-Rays, allow patients to wear clothes that reflect who they are outside of the hospital walls.

The event concludes with an After PARTY, DJed by Nick AM, and a Silent Auction hosted by Paddle8 of original drawings by artists Grace Weaver, Nikki Maloof, Joel Mesler, Paul Wackers, and Margaret Lee, among others, from the forthcoming edition of RxART’s Coloring Book, which is donated to hospitals across the country. Works will be available for bidding online two weeks in advance of the event and will close at the After PARTY.

“The core of RxART’s mission is to create engaging environments for children in need of inspiration and comfort as they heal. We have partnered with over 50 contemporary artists and dozens of hospitals. We are incredibly proud to have transformed sites in over 18 cities since we were founded 19 years ago,” said Diane Brown, Founder and President of RxART. “The RxART PARTY allows us to continue this critical work and honor the artists and partners who lend their vision to make these projects a reality and whose artworks so deeply affect the lives of sick children, their families, and caretakers.”

The evening is chaired by Thomas Tull and the After PARTY is chaired by Zahra Ahmed. Hauser & Wirth, Lexus, and FIGS are supporting partners, with DL1961 as the After PARTY sponsor. In-kind partners include Champagne Collet, Casamigos, PSG Framing, and Fritz Ewins Inc., and Plantshed.

While dinner tickets have sold out, After PARTY tickets are still available for $250. Limited edition Nicolas Party prints were available to the first 50 purchasers attending the PARTY at the Nicolas Party edition level and above. Limited edition Loie Hollowell prints were available to the first 50 purchasers attending the PARTY at the VIP and Patron Ticket Levels. To purchase tickets, visit the RxART website, or contact Megan Skidmore with inquiries at megan_skidmore@rxart.net / 212-260-8797.
