Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami to Present All the Eternal Love I Have for the Pumpkins, an Off-Site Exhibition Opening October 12th, 2019 and Running Through January 2020 in the Miami Design District. Free admission will be available every Thursday on a First Come, First Served Basis.

The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami) will present a special off-site exhibition of artist Yayoi Kusama’s All the Eternal Love I Have for the Pumpkins in the Miami Design District. On view from October 12, 2019 through January 31, 2020, the work features a mesmerizing array of Kusama’s signature spotted pumpkins within a mirror-lined room illuminated by LED lighting. This marks the first time that one of Kusama’s signature infinity rooms will be on view in Miami. This special presentation is made possible with major support from Inigo Philbrick Gallery.

The exhibition will be open Thursdays through Sundays from 11 am to 5 pm. Admission will be free every Thursday on a first come, first served basis beginning October 17, 2019. Timed tickets will be available for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for $15 at www.icamiami.org

All the Eternal Love I Have for the Pumpkins (2016) showcases the artist’s singular approach to large-scale installation and incorporates one of the artist’s quintessential symbols, the spotted pumpkin. One of the first mirrored pumpkin rooms created by Kusama, the installation draws on several of the artists’ characteristic themes, including infinity, the sublime and obsessive repetition. Expanding on her seminal pumpkin room, Mirror Room (Pumpkin) (1991), originally commissioned for the Japanese Pavilion at the 1993 Venice Biennale, All the Eternal Love I Have for the Pumpkins (2016) focuses the reflective chamber on a series of acrylic yellow gourds covered in black polka dots, allowing viewers to fully immerse themselves in Kusama’s creation, becoming part of the art.

“ICA Miami’s presentation of the first-ever Infinity Mirror Room to be shown in Miami is another example of our museum’s commitment to providing a platform the most significant art of our time,” said ICA Miami Artistic Director Alex Gartenfeld. “Kusama’s immersive works have delighted audiences around the world, and we are pleased that the Miami community will finally have an opportunity to step inside and experience the thrill of an Infinity Mirror Room.”

Throughout the presentation’s run, ICA Miami will host a series of free student visits to the Infinity Mirror Room throughout the four-month exhibition. These experiences will be accompanied by a specially designed curriculum focused on Kusama’s life and work.

Location

ICA Miami’s off-site exhibition will be presented at 112 NE 41st Street, Suite 106 in the Miami Design District.
