Assistant Account Executive

The R+A Assistant Account Executive conducts media research and relations; acts as client liaison; contributes to material development, social media strategy, event planning, and other activities; and has significant client-facing responsibilities.

The Assistant Account Executive makes meaningful contributions to the communications strategy for his/her designated clients and provides additional support to account management on an ongoing basis. Assistant Account Executives are integral to each client’s success and ensure that campaigns are carried out in alignment with the client’s goals. Assistant Account Executives make contributions to the future success of the firm and R+A encourages their growth.

Responsibilities Include: 
  • Media outreach, including pitch development, follow-up (via phone and email), and handling requests for information, materials, and interviews
  • Identifying media targets for client initiatives based on past coverage and editorial interests
  • Generating external client materials to support communications activities and media relations, including press releases, institutional backgrounders, project descriptions, and other editorial collateral; and maintaining internal client documents and files, including logs to document media outreach and outcomes, and filing and organization of media clips, press materials, and images
  • Facilitating interactions between clients and opinion-leading journalists through press briefings, media roundtables, site visits, desk-side meetings, and other face-to-face cultivation opportunities
  • Press event management, including but not limited to venue selection, invitation development and distribution, and programming logistics
  • Tracking client coverage and related campaign outcomes, and reporting these outcomes to the client in a timely manner
  • Developing strategies for the use of social media and digital platforms to meet client goals
  • Uploading and maintaining client press materials, including press releases and images, on the R+A website
  • Contributing to the development of overarching account strategy and identification of campaign goals; generating strategic proposals and implementation timelines
  • Maintaining a strong awareness of the latest news and emerging trends in the field of arts and culture and actively participating in the world of arts and culture
  • Cultivating strong relationships with national media contacts and leveraging these relationships for the benefit of client visibility
  • Responding proactively to new business opportunities
Qualifications Include: 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and familiarity with Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience with database management (particularly Cision) is a plus
  • Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, and handle change at a moment’s notice
  • Outstanding phone skills, highly professional verbal communication
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Must be receptive to feedback and able to take direction
  • Ability to work collaboratively and coordinate within a team
  • Demonstrated passion and interest in the arts and culture
